Hello Friends!

Bead weaving is a form of meditative art, expression and creativity. I find bead weaving to be a nice change from working on a computer all day.  I love to experiment with unique shapes of beads creating form and texture in weaving.   From everyday casual wear to extravagant bridal pieces, I weave necklaces, bracelets, earrings and accessories. I also like to create pieces from chainmaille and weave and wrap with wire.
I work primarily without sketches, but I do love to doodle which inspires me to form functional beaded jewelry. Some pieces take several days or months and some take longer until I can visualize its completed form. I weave with crystals, semi-precious stones, pearls and seed beads primarily.  Each piece is crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail and workmanship. I use high quality materials to improve longevity and stability of each piece. I weave in shorter runs of thread for improved strength and tactility.

About My Work

If you have an item in mind that you would like made especially for you, please contact me. I love digging in to new designs, shapes and colours chosen specifically for you or an occasion or function you are attending. Please read more on the repairs, restringing and redesign request page.

My pieces are crafted to withstand normal everyday wear. In the event of an accident (a busted jump ring for example), such small repairs can be made free of charge, when mailed in with a postage paid self addressed envelope. Please contact me with your request for this. If you live locally (Richmond Hill, ON or GTA) small repairs can be performed while you wait and if I’m at a show, I can usually complete it for you to pick up. More on repairs can be found on this page.

I also perform knotting and/or re-knotting of pearl necklaces. If you have a strand of pearls that aren’t knotted, consider having this done for 2 reasons:
1) To stop you from loosing  precious pearls if the necklace breaks.
2) To prevent adjacent pearls from rubbing against each other which will eventually cause damage to the pearls beautiful nacre/surface.
Knotting should be done with natural silk cord or other fine material, so that it does not affect your pearls. Unfortunately after a few decades (or less) the silk can rot, look dirty and break. Please hold on to your clasp especially if it was designed specifically for your pearls and have it restrung. My rates are very low starting at $25 for 16″ strand (plus supplies) of 6mm beads (or larger). I can also teach your how to knot your own pearls. Private lessons are $60 (plus any specially ordered supplies) for 2 hours in the comfort of your home in the GTA. I bring all tools and materials to help you knot your pearls, and give you essential clean and care instructions.

Proper handling when cleaning is essential to a like new appearance. If you are in doubt about cleaning, please contact me. Store your piece in an air-tight container, for example: a zip-lock baggy, and it will look new for years. This stops metals and stones from being scratched AND significantly reduces oxidization which happens to everything that has any amount of copper it in including silver filled and sterling silver pieces. Any items that are Rhodium plated will not oxidize and quickly, if at all depending on the piece, however, Rhodium plating can be scratched or worn off .  I recommend you take your fine diamond and gemstone jewelry to a reputable jewelry store on a regular basis to have it inspected for loose stones and/or cleaned. » Visit the care and clean page to read more on cleaning.

About the Richmond Hill Creative Eye

If you are a DIY beader, crafter or other artists and would like to join a group of women highly involved in various art disciplines? Contact the Richmond Hill Creative Eye to find out when our next meeting will be and we will “save you a chair”.

We meet once a month to help each other with ideas for projects. Most are jewelry related, but many of us crochet, macrame, knit, sew, paint, etc., so the sky is the limit on the collective knowledge of the group. This is your opportunity to be with a group of like-minded women who not only enjoy crafting, but love to chat. Our members are all very kind and love to help. New members are always welcome. We are not a large group but our hearts are large!

Visit rhcreativeye.com for more information.

In September of 2012, a group of beading enthusiasts from Richmond Hill started up a beading group called the Richmond Hill Creative Eye. We wanted to create a not-for-profit group where we could bead together and run ideas past each other on a regular basis. The support we regularly receive from each other helps sustainability of our group and provides for a wonderfully therapeutic hobby and environment. I currently teach workshops in my studio and host demonstrations at our monthly meetings.
